Just when you thought it was safe to put your credit card away for the duration of the summer, here comes Amazon Prime Day.
TechRadar discovered a Prime Day 2018 banner on the UK version of Amazon’s website this morning. It revealed the date of the worldwide shopping mega-event that rivals Black Friday: Tuesday, July 17.
But the deals, according to the banner, will start at noon the day prior. “An epic day (and a half) of our best deals,” the banner stated.
Maybe I should use my Amazon Prime account to order more coffee? I’m going to need more coffee.
What You Should Know About Amazon Prime Day 2018
Amazon first introduced Prime Day in 2015, when the site celebrated its 20th birthday.
Since then, the company has made it an annual anniversary party. Last year, Amazon offered deals for 30 hours, starting the evening prior to Prime Day.
Although it’s been criticized by consumer watchdogs for inflating prices before dropping them on Prime Day, Amazon typically boasts thousands of discounts exclusively for Prime members. Some of them are decent. Some of them… yeah, you can probably pass on a lot of them.
This year marks the first Prime Day since Amazon bought Whole Foods, so I’m crossing my fingers for deals on fine organic groceries.
Stay tuned for more info as we get it.
