Bass Pro Shops Brings Free Summer Camp Fun to Their Stores This Summer

Looking for ways to keep the kids entertained this summer without emptying your wallet?

Bass Pro Shops will host free family activities at participating stores every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday through July 22. Kids can make crafts, play outdoor games and participate in workshops. Bass Pro Shops say the activities are suitable for children ages 8 to 12.

The Family Summer Camp, as the retailer calls it, starts at noon on the selected days. Craft time is from noon to 2 p.m., and the type of crafts varies each week.

This weekend, children can make what the company describes as owl wind socks. Participants will decorate aprons next week. Over the summer, kids will also create deer tracks, canoe-themed picture frames and raccoon magnets.

From noon to 3 p.m., children can expand their knowledge of the great outdoors by participating in 20-minute workshops on fishing, camping, water sports, shooting sports, conservation or emergency preparedness. Participants receive a free lanyard and pin for each workshop they complete.

From noon to 4 p.m., families get the chance to play some of the outdoor games sold at Bass Pro Shops, like beanbag toss or a giant version of beer pong, minus the beer.

Visitors to Bass Pro Shops in three locations — Anchorage, Alaska; Rocky View, Alberta; and Tsawwassen, British Columbia — can even practice catch-and-release fishing at casting ponds in the stores.

The retailer is also hosting a sweepstakes for a family of four to win a two-night, all-expense-paid trip to Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, Missouri. You don’t have to participate in the store’s summer activities to enter, but that wilderness expertise from the workshops could come in handy if you win!
